Workshop: Best Practices for Finishing Great Quilts 

This is a hands-on class to create a beautifully finished quilt. Let's learn some steps to help you best prepare your quilt for the quilter--even if the quilter is you! And how do you finish the quilt with a perfect binding?!

 What will be covered?? The focus will be creating and stitching on straight borders and mitered borders, creating an easy bias binding from a fat quarter, creating a straight binding, tips to get the binding applied properly with a nice mitered corner. And sew much more!! We should have time for questions and answers!   (Location 410 W. John Street, the school across from the Catholic Church, enter in the back parking lot)

Requirements:
You can just listen and follow along the work shop or you can bring the following items: A small quilt (place mats will work too) that is ready for binding Fabric for binding A fat quarter to create a bias Sewing machine in good working order Appropriate needle/thread for your project Long ruler for trimming the quilt Rotary cutter and mat Iron for pressing Starch/Best Press, your preference Walking foot for your machine if you have one

Is a professional longarm quilter from Missouri. She has been quilting for more than 17 years and is quick to point out that she isn?t a famous quilter and doesn?t quilt for famous people! She quilts lots of those less than perfect ?bless her heart? quilts that require her to develop techniques to handle whatever comes her way. She is an enthusiastic teacher that loves to quilt, loves to teach and can?t wait to share a bit of that passion with her students. Georgia is a national and international Gammill Certified Statler Instructor that has been certified in all versions and began teaching Creative Studio in 2008. She is always generous to share stories, tips and ideas that inspire her students to gain skills and real confidence as quilters.
